Dr. Fabio Altieri got on 1981 his Master degree in Biology with honors from the University of Rome Sapienza. On 1986 he got the Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Department of Biochemical Sciences, University of Rome Sapienza. From 1987 to 1989 he worked for two years as Researcher at the School of Basic Life Sciences, University of Missouri-Kansas City – USA. On 1991 he was appointed as Researcher, working at the Department of Biochemical Sciences, Sapienza University of Rome and in 2000 was promoted to Associate Professor in Biochemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Sapienza University of Rome. Since 2006 is Full Professor in Biochemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy and Medicine, Department of Biochemical Sciences, Sapienza University of Rome. He conducted his research working initially on the characterization of non-histone chromosomal proteins. After that he focused the attention on nuclear protein purification and characterization, protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions. Current research cover the analysis of protein involved in signal transduction, cancer onset and progression, and oxidative stress response, as well as the screening of bioactive compounds and their impact on protein functionality.
